Rossi Debut in WTCC 2010
As the WTCC 2010 schedule nears to the end, 19th and 20th rounds of the FIA WTCC motorsport events will be hosted at the Okayama International Circuit, Japan, on the 31st of October 2010.
Note that it’s the 3rd time that the WTCC motor sport championship visits this challenging race track that stretches among the green hills of Honshu Island where the 1994 and 1995 Pacific Formula 1 Grand Prix were hosted.
Weather forecast predicted wet conditions as usually for that particular area, reminding us of the WTCC 2008 and WTCC 2009 races that were tackled under rainy conditions that didn’t hold off any racing fans from attending the races.
WTCC racing crashes are predicted onto any wet track, urging the organizers to glance closey upon the security measures and the safety car interventions that’s also predicted to tackle the race circuit repeatedly.
WTCC Results – WTCC Stats
Back in 2008, Augusto Farfus (pole position) and Gabriele Tarquini were caught up in a 1st-turn racing crash at the start of the very 1st race. The WTCC season after, Tarquini lost his race’ leadership consequent to driving wide behind the safety car that entered the race track.
SEAT won both races in 2008, with Rickard Rydell’s Leon TDI and Tom Coronel’s petrol-powered Leon. The latter became the first (and only so far) non factory driver to win a WTCC race.
Referring to the 2009 WTCC results, BMW drivers succeeded in demonstrating a double, with Andy Priaulx and Augusto Farfus respectively claiming the 1st and 2nd race.
WTCC News – WTCC Racing Rumors
French racing driver Michael Rossi (22 years old), is expected to make his debut in the WTCC motorsport events ruled by the FIA; tackling the World Touring Car Championship in Okayama might not hod the best experience for Rossi who will be asked to drive onto one of the hardest race circuits, accompanied by a weather forecast that’s predicting slippery curves due to humidity and rains.
Rossi will team up with Jordi Gene behind the wheel of the Seat Leon WTCC car; the SR-Sport SEAT Leon TDI will be then handed to local hero Andre Couto at Macau.
Rossi started his racing career in karting before switching to the tin-top racing; the Frenchman managed to win the 2008 Renault Megane Eurocup before ranking 2nd in the 2010 SEAT Leon Eurocup racing standings. As part of gaining experience, Rossi raced in the opening 2 rounds of the European Touring Car Cup, driving a SUNRED SEAT Leon racing vehicle, powered by petrol.
