Raikkonen Renault F1 Team Deal

German F1 driver Nick Heidfeld will replace Spanish formula one star Pedro de la Rosa at the Sauber F1 team as reported by the motorsport news, F1.com and the racing reporters. Heidfeld will grab the seat of the Sauber for the remaining 5 F1 races onto the 2010 F1 Calendar as confirmed by the team.

Heidfeld, reputed for his experience and his loyalty to the Swiss-based Sauber racing team, was indeed a main driver for the Sauber in 2001-03 and then from 2006 until BMW declared its retirement from the F1 motorsport events at the end of F1 2009 season.

De la Rosa, who was acquired while being a test drive at McLAren, was signed by Suaber to make a comeback after years as a test driver; the Spanish racing pilot was struggling to compete and keep the rhythm with his team mate Kamui Kobayashi who has already accumulated 21 points onto the F1 standings for Sauber that’s equipped by Ferrari F1 engines. Note that Kobayashi has breached 21 points of the Sauber’s 27 points so far in F1 2010.

Peter Sauber told the F1 live news and the F1 official website that "It was a hard decision for me to make as a team principal and I want to thank Pedro for his professionalism. By signing Nick we have a driver we know extremely well who will help us to further judge the comparative potential of our car."

De La rosa, who was shocked by the team’s decision, stated that: "I am surprised by the team's decision but I respect it and would like to wish everyone good luck for the remainder of the season. I still intend to be in Formula One for 2011.”

Referring to the FIA F1 Stats, Heidfeld had never won a Grand Prix despite crusing along 167 race’ circuits; the best appearance was finishing 2nd in 8 times and is currently eager to jump in the bucket seat of the formula 1 cockpit to race again.

Heidfeld told the motorsport magazines and motor sport TV channels: "I'm looking forward like crazy to having the opportunity to go racing again in a good car in Formula One from the Singapore Grand Prix onwards. After the last months I'm even more motivated than ever. Without doubt I will be feeling at home straight away and this should help me to familiarise myself as soon as possible with the car."

In other F1 news and F1 rumors, boss of the Renault F1 team Eric Boullier acknowledged that former F1 world champion Kimi Raikkonen has started openning some communication channels to put himself back in the frame for the upcoming F1 2011 calendar. After racing in the WRC without major success, the Finnish F1 driver who won the 2007 F1 championship title with Ferrari will definitely be on Renault F1 racing team’s list as reported by the autosport website. This F1 news was reported based on the Frenchman interview after the Monza Grand Prix in Italy.
