Ernie Els PGA Hall Of Fame 2011
Ernie Els, 3-times Major golf winner and former world number one in the PGA Tour standings, has been voted into the World Golf Hall of Fame, taking part of 2011 golf class.
At 40 years old of age, the selection of Els into the PGA Hall of Fame was declared to the golf news, golf Live TV channels and spotted onto the PGA Tour official website on Wednesday; Els will be inducted into the PGA Tour Hall of Fame on the 9th of May at the World Golf Village considered as one of Florida’s best golf clubs.
South African Ernie Els told the live Golf TV reporters at the East Lake golf club that "It was quite a surprise. I thought you had to be a little bit more senior. You'd like to think you could have done more and can still do more, but obviously I'm very, very honoured to be inducted."
Els, who’s more often known as the 'Big Easy' due to impressive fitness and laidback behavior, had earned his PGA golf Hall of Fame selection in the 1st year he made it into the US PGA Tour opinion poll.
The 18 times US PGA Tour champion added that "Obviously this makes the year, it makes you feel very good about what you've done. I've had a lot of achievements and I've won a lot of golf tournaments, especially worldwide. So for a boy from South Africa, that's kind of nice."
Referring to the PGA Stats, Els has won more than 60 professional Golf tournaments around the globe, of which the US Open golf tournaments of 1994 and 1997 as well as the 2002 British Open golf championship.
Els has been successful twice on the 2010 US PGA Tour before qualifying for the elite 30-strong golf club at East Lake as part of the PGA Tour Championship.
The selection of Els into the PGA Tour was applauded by Gary Player, a fellow African golf swinging champion who managed to top the golf Major 9 times before making it into the golf elite group as well.
Els will now join American golfer Doug Ford, Jock Hutchison and former US President George H.W. Bush in the 2011 PGA Hall of Fame.
Ryder Cup golf tournament is closing in; Tiger Woods, the best golf player in the world, had missed on grabbing the PGA Card but had received plenty of insurances from Padraigh, who promised to offer Woods a wild card.
